Workforce Development and Training

Fast out of the gate, strong down the stretch.

Our state and local training team will help you make quick work of your competition.

The phone call came at 11 p.m.

Kia Motors was touring the west Georgia area looking for a location for a plant; could the Quick Start workforce training team put together a presentation for a lunch meeting the next day?

…the next day, when {the Kia group} arrived at West Georgia Technical College for the impromptu presentation, the Quick Start team was waiting. They had pictures on the wall of auto manufacturing processes they had fostered, a power-point presentation of past projects for Korean companies, translated into Korean. And fried chicken for lunch.

That lunch meeting occurred back in 2008. Since then, Quick Start has trained thousands of employees for Kia and its tier suppliers in the area, helping to hone worker skills to a standard that has burnished Kia’s reputation for quality among American consumers.

The nation’s #1 Workforce Development Program: And speaking of reputations, Quick Start is also one of the resources that helped push Georgia to its current ranking as the nation’s Top State for Doing Business, according to site consultants polled by Area Development magazine. In fact, Quick Start has ranked as the #1 workforce development program by those site consultants in each of the five years the survey has been conducted.

Here in Meriwether, Quick Start works in conjunction with West Georgia Technical College, a top local training partner that has achieved impressive results with Meriwether clients like Mando Corporation. The Korean-based supplier to Kia and General Motors opened a $200 million manufacturing facility in Meriwether in 2011. In 2013 when the company readied for a new casting location with a thorough competitive site review, Meriwether came out on top once again; the new facility, an $80 million investment, is opening across the street. Together, both plants will employ 1,000 and become the largest manufacturer in Meriwether County.

Quick Start expertise extends across all sectors, including Advanced Manufacturing, from Automotive to Biotech, from Agriculture and Food Processing to Warehousing and Distribution. And together, the  Quick Start and West Georgia Tech team will deliver customized training to meets all your needs, beginning with assessment, and they’ll deliver wherever your needs require, whether in the classroom or on your shop floor.

So when you’re ready to “eat your competition’s lunch,” give us a call at Meriwether IDA, and let’s get together for a meal. Fried chicken optional. Results guaranteed.
